Biography
James Thomas Duncan was born in Kentucky in 1842[1] to William H Duncan (1808–1878) and Mary Hollingsworth (1813–1884). He is listed in Todd, Kentucky with his parents on both: the 1850 Census[2] and the 1860 Census.[3] He married Elizabeth (Bettie) W. Jourdan on October 20, 1869 in the same area of Todd, Kentucky.[4][5] The couple are listed together on the 1880 Census with five children.[6] James passed away on May 3, 1887 in Arkansas; according to the Arkansas Confederate Pension Application (Application # 1243) completed by his widow in 1902.[7]
