Biography

Barbara was born in 1830.[1] Barbara was the child of John Duncan and Elizabeth Long. She 1st married Adam Moore 30 Mar 1848 in Coshocton Co OH . She then married George Conkle widower of her aunt, Appollonia Long, 25 Sep 1873 in Coshocton Co OH, who d. 25 May 1873. She and George homesteaded in Conway Springs KS near her brothers Tobias, Joseph and Jesse. Barbara passed away in 1892 and was buried at Conway Springs Cemetery Sumner Co KS.

Obituary

Mrs Barbara Conkle, the mother of Mrs A F Brown, died early last Saturday morning. She had made her home with her daughter since she came to Kansas several years ago. About ten days before her death she was taken ill with a fever, attended by violent diarrhea. To this attack a constitution already feeble speedily succumbed and she passed away in the early hour of Saturday, the 23d inst. The remains were buried the evening of the same day, the services being conducted by Rev E J Brown, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by the pastor of the Methodist Church. Mrs Conkle was a Christian and a communicant of the Presbyterian church. She died in the Lord and in the 62d year of her age. She leaves two daughters, one here, and one in Ohio, to mourn a mother's death.[2] [3]
