Ann Duncan was born on May 5, 1820, in Guernsey County, Ohio, to John Duncan and Elizabeth Harvey.
She was married first to a Mr. Lewis, with whom she had four children, one of whom, Lizzie, outlived her. She moved to Oxford, Oakland, Michigan in 1886.
She was then the fourth wife of Alfred Van Wagoner, who she married on March 20, 1899. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Oxford.
She died on April 14, 1901, in Oxford, Oakland County, Michigan, and is is buried by her second husband in Oxford Cemetery.[1]

"DIED - At her home in this village, April 14, 1901, Mrs. ANN VAN WAGONER, aged 81 years.
ANN DUNCAN was born in Guernsy County, Ohio, May 5th, 1820. She came to Oxford in 1886 and was united in marriage to ALFRED VAN WAGONER, March 20, 1889. She was the mother of four children, only one of whom survive her, a daughter Mrs. LIZZIE COLLINS. She experienced religion in her teens and has always lived a Christian life, was a great temperance worker and always looking around to see where she could do the most good. She was a member of the M.E. church of this village at the time of her death. The funeral was held at the house, Monday at 7 p.m., Rev. Jennings officiating. Baldwin and Sons had charge of the remains, which were interred in the family lot in the Oxford Cemetery."
