No original source records have been located to confirm birth or marriage records. It appears that some erroneous information may have been published, and perhaps republished/reported, making the “actual facts” obscure. There is a great deal of conflicting information surrounding the Duncan Family of Culpeper – Many Source-to-Source discrepancies; co-mingling, Lack of records; conflicting family stories; number of Duncan’s with the same names, etc.

  • Contemporary Shadrack Duncan married Elizabeth Pendelton (1795 - 1865). Said to be son of Robert. In Fauquier -- in Culpeper ; then moved to Indiana (on 1850 Census, Gibson Indiana. He is buried in Forsythe Cemetery near Evansville, IN (Pike or Gibson County) Not of this Family.

Shadrack Duncan is a member of Duncan Clan.

Shadrack, Duncan son of Charles Duncan and Sarah Browning was born about 7 Sept. 1771 in Culpeper Virginia.

Shadrack, married 1st Elizabeth Williams 4 Aug 1803 in Madison Co, Kentucky[1]

(Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Jarrett Williams and Elizabeth Phelps, was born about 1779. Elizabeth died 1817-1819. Exact date and place is unknown, probably in Hardin Co. Kentucky.

Shadrack married 2nd Priscilla Keith, parents unknown, 24 Sep 1820 in Hardin, Kentucky. Priscilla was born about 4 Apr 1793 in Nelson Co., Kentucky.[2]

Shadrack died in 1836, Hardin Co. KY.[3]

The Duncan's were early settlers in Kentucky and he was an active member of the South Fork Baptist Church, Larue County, KY; [4]

Priscilla appears on the 1840 Hardin County census; then about 1854-55, moved with other family members to Clark County, MO .

KY, weak in body; have given to my oldest son John Duncan $75 in property; have given to my daughter Patsy Connor $50, and she shall have $25 more at the death or intermarriage of my wife making her equal with John; have given to my son Charles Duncan $75 in property; have given to my son Samuel Duncan $75 in property; have given to my son William Duncan $65 and desire he shall have one cow & calf when he calls for it; have given to my daughter Verlinda Thomas $45 and she shall have $15 and at death or intermarriage of my wife she shall have $15 more, making her equal with the others before mentioned; to my son Jarrot Ducan (sic) one horse etc. worth $75 when he comes of age; to my son Isaac Ducan (sic) one horse etc. worth $75 when he becomes of age; to my daughter Sarah Elizabeth Duncan one bed etc. when she becomes of age or marries and at death or intermarriage of my wife to have as much of estate to make her part worth $75; to my daughter Milley Ann Duncan (same); to my daughter Mary Jane Duncan (same); appoint son John Duncan executor; at death or intermarriage of my wife all my property remaining equally divided among my heirs as above named.
