Duncan, David R.
Lower Burrell

David R. Duncan, 89, of Lower Burrell, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at West Haven Nursing Home, Apollo. He was born Jan. 17, 1917, in New Kensington, to the late [[Duncan-6091|David E.] and Annie R. Myers Duncan. He had lived in the New Kensington area all of his life. He was a veteran in the Army during World War II. He was a computer programmer at Alco in New Kensington. After his retirement, he worked at Bethlem Mine. Mr. Duncan was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Plum Borough. He enjoyed playing music at nursing homes in the area. He is survived by two daughters, Janet (Donald) Champion, of Conroe, Texas, and Darlene Ratliff, of Columbus, Ohio; his brothers, Arthur Duncan, of Lower Burrell, and Miles Duncan, of Unity; two sisters, Virginia Mitchell and Gladys Duncan, both of Plum Borough; also three grandchildren from Texas, one from Denver and two from Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita L. Miller Duncan; his second wife, Naomi R. Miller Duncan; his parents; a sister, Bertha Duncan; and two brothers, Harry and Walter Duncan. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Ave., New Kensington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. George W. Beattie officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Memorial contributions may be made to: Four Corners Unit of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 568, Pittsburgh, PA 15230, or to a charity of one's choice.[1]
