It appears that some erroneous information may have been published, and perhaps republished/reported, making the “actual facts” obscure. There is a great deal of conflicting information surrounding the Duncan's – Many Source-to-Source discrepancies; co-mingling, Lack of records; conflicting family stories; number of Duncan’s with the same names, etc..

Lean Sanford if she living when he comes into possession, 40 lbs; otherwise exonerated from payment. Also tools and furniture. Remainder of land, except 10 acres in McKeels marsh, to my dau. Sally Fisher during life as though she held in fee simple. To grandson James Duncan Fisher after death of my dau. Sally Fisher these lands. If he die under age and without legal issue, then lands to my grandson James Duncan of Eli. To my granddau. Harriet Majors Mason negro girl Charity; to my granddau. Pamela Andrews Mason, negro girl Love. To my two granddaus. above Harriet M. Mason and Pamela A. Mason one note of hand executed by their father Bennet Mason for 11 lbs 15 shillings. To dau.
