I have researched William Duncan born in St Monance and he married Jannet Forret in 1765 in St Monance and thenwent on to have their children born in St Monance (at the same time as you having his children born in Chatham, US) and this William died in 1820 in St Monance, not the US.

There are hundreds of William Duncan’s born in Scotland around this time so why do you think that my William Duncan was the one that went to the US?
