LAWSON WHEATLEY DUNCAN was the son of Leroy and Agnes "Aggy" Williams Duncan, he was born in Fauquier County, Virginia.
The Leroy Duncan family moved from Virginia to Carter County, Kentucky sometime before 1850, they were the parents of 12 known children.
Lawson Wheatley married Miss Mary Frances Canafax, daughter of Calvin Canafax on 12 September 1856. The 1870, the US Federal Census lists Lawson, age 57, living in Precinct 1, Carter County, Kentucky, and a farmer.
Lawson and Mary were the parents of six known children as follows, Luanna S. Levina "Vinnie" Duncan, married to William Henry Blentlinger, George Gibson Duncan, married to Melissa Alexander, Edward Calvin "Ted" Duncan, married to Minnie Amanda Cooper, Florida R.M. Duncan, first married to William Fleming "Willie" Frazee, Florida's second husband was Jefferson Ferguson, Jefferson Morgan Duncan, married to Emma Jane Dixon, and Allen Camelion Duncan, he married Melissa Hale.
Lawson Wheatley died in June of 1900, at the age of 87, he was widowed, his wife Mary Frances died in 1874. I was told by my cousin Phyllis Waddell that his daughter-in-law, Minnie Cooper Duncan, wife of his son Ted, took care of him for about two years before his death. He was buried at the Kehoe Cemetery, Greenup County, Kentucky. May he rest in peace.
