Biography

James was born in 1882. He was the son of Washington Albertie Duncan and Martha Elizabeth (Pendley) Duncan. He passed away in 1965. He was buried in the Pendley Cememtery, Spruce Pine, Mitchell, County, North Carolina.[1]

James brothers and sisters were:

He married Margaret Serepta (Pendley) Duncan and had ... children:

In 1910, James was 27 years old living in Grassy Creek Township, Mitchell, North Carolina with his wife Serepta and 3 of his children, Herman 4 yrs old, Rosco, 2 yrs old and Roy less than a year old. [2]

On Sept 12, 1918, , James registered for the Draft for World War I in Mitchell County, North Carolina. He was residing in Spruce River, Mitchell County, North Carolina. He was described as tall, slender build, blue eyes and brown hair. He was 36 years old.[3]

In 1940, James was 58 years old living in Grassy Creek Township, Mitchell, North Carolina with his wife, Serpta and 2 of his children, Ralph 24 yrs old and Roland 16 yrs old.[4]

Not to be confused with James D Duncan also living in Ledger, Mitchell County, North Carolina born on Oct 27, 1883. His wife was Lillie Duncan and is a different James Duncan.
