Biography

Colonel Azariah Donham was born in Piscataway New Jersey 9 February 1718/19, the son of Jonathan Dunham (1694 - 1777) and Jane Platt (1695 - 1779)

In Feb. 1775 Colonel Dunham was elected to the Colonial General Assembly of the province of New Jersey, and again for 1775 and 1776. In 1775 He was a member of the Provincial Congress and appointed as one of the Committee of Safety for the Province. Colonel Dunham was an active Revolutionary leader, and after the war he was elected the first President of the Corporation of the City of New Brunswick. His son Lewis followed 4 years later.

He died 22 January 1790, Azariah, Mary, and 4 sons are buried in the Dunham Family Burying Ground, Raritan Township (formerly Piscataway) Middlesex Co. New Jersey.

Dunham-3294 and Dunham-977 appear to represent the same person because: Same wife. Dates of birth and death on Dunham-3294 appear to be estimates and are unsourced. Thanks for reviewing.
