Biography
Matilda Evelyn "Tillie" Dunkin was born on May 27, 1857. [1]in Indiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin Dunkin and Sarah Ratcliff. She was the 3rd child of 9 children.
She was in her parent's , Ben and Sarah's home in Carrollton Twp., Carroll County, in 1860, along with her sister Mary-6, H W-5 and William 6 months old.[2][3]
At age 12, in 1870 she was in her parent's home in Carrollton Twp., Carroll County, Indiana, along with 7 of her siblings.[4]
She was age 23, in 1880 where she was in her parent's home. [5][6]
At age 48, in 1900 she was still in her fathers home after her mother passed away.[7][8]
She married Elijah Sanford on March 2, 1901 in Carroll County, Indina.[9] Elijah was a preacher. There is no record of any children.
They made their home in Polk county, Florida in 1910, where at age 56, Elijah was farming, and Matilda was taking care of the home.[10]
Widowed, she was living in Winter Haven, Polk County, Florida in 1930, where she was keeping two boarders.[11]
Tillie Evelyn died on July 31, 1937[1] in Polk County, Florida at the age of 81.[12][13] She was buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Winter Haven, Polk County, Florida.[1]

1900 Census has birth as Jun 1852 but that conflicts with other census. No Matilda / Tillie was seen in 1860 and 1870 child, as born in 1852, only child born in 1857.
