Biography

Julia A Dunkin was born on November 4, 1824 in Preble County, Ohio.^[1] She was the daugter of Benjamin Dunkin and Jane Moon. She was the eldest of 9 children. At age 38 she was still in her parent's home in

She married John Landes (1819-1889) on February 23, 1845 in Carroll County, Indiana, with Samuel Arther presiding.^[2] They had 7 children. Only 3 were alive in1900.^[3]

John and Julia lived in Carrollton, Carroll County, Indiana. By 1850, their frirst two children had been born, Mary J-5 and baby Miranda 6 months old.^[4]By 1860, Mary was 14, Maranda had passed away, and William-8, Benjamim-6 and Oscar-2 had been born^[5]In 1880, they were on the farm with Jasper-28, Oscar-23 helping with the farm, and Susie Johnson-17, an orphant living with them (with Lung disease, unable to work).^[6]

Her husband passed away on March 26, 1889, at the age of 70 in Carroll County, Indiana and was buried in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Sharon, Carroll County, Indiana.

She was a widow in 1900 living in Carrollton, Carroll County, Indiana, living with her son Oscar and wife Nancy.^[3] Only 3 of her 7 children were living in 1900.

She passed away at the age of 75, on October 5, 1900^[7] in Carrolton, Carroll County, Indina, and was buried in the Beech Grove Cemetery.^[1]
