OBITUARY[1] — MRS. ELIZA DOVER. The death occurred on Sunday evening last of Mrs Eliza Dover[2], relict of the late Mr James Dover, at the advanced age of 84 years. Deceased belonged to one of the sturdy old pioneering families, and was born at the Fish River, in the Orange district, being a Miss Dunn.[3] At 16 years of age she married the late Mr Dover, at Orange[4], and shortly afterward went to live on Mr L. N. Smith's Boree property, where her husband was employed. For many years they lived at Boree, and then moved to the Wellington district, where, some 18 years ago, Mr Dover died. … Deceased was the mother of nineteen children, fourteen of whom survive her. They are: Mrs S. Clarke (Gregra)[5], Mrs J. Frewin (Orange)[6], Mrs G. Docos (Molong)[7], Mrs A. Smallman (Wellington)[8], Mrs W. Rutter (Cundumbul)[9], Mrs J. Manning[10] and Mrs H. Lock (Sydney)[11], Messrs J. Dover (Sydney), Charles (Wellington), Arthur and Ernest (Molong)[12], Frank (Two mile)[13], Harry (Cumnock)[14] and Waller (A.I.F.) She leaves 42 grandchildren, and five great-grand children. She is survived by her only brother, Mr John Dunn, of Orange, who is in his 86th year.[15] The remains were interred in the R.C. portion of the Molong cemetery, the Rev. Father Lawler reading the burial service.[16]
??Brother CENTENARIAN'S DEATH. ORANGE, Friday.[17] The death has occurred of Mr. John Dunn, the oldest resident of the district, at the age of 102 years. A native of Ireland, Mr. Dunn came to Australia when only four years of age, and practically ever since had been a resident of the Orange district. He had been associated with several of the old station pro- perties, and for a considerable period was en- gaged at Springfield station, Byng, near Lucknow. His wife died three years ago at the age of 87 years, and he is survived by five sons, two daughters, and 33 grandchildren.
