Joseph stated in his pension application that he was born in Guilford County, NC, in 1755. He applied for this pension in Caldwell County, KY 20 Aug, 1832. He entered service in 1778 in Rutherford County, NC under Capt. Robert Porter & Lt. James McFadden. His brother Andrew Dunn was killed near Ninety-Six, SC. His brother Samuel also served in the lighthorse. After the war he lived several years in NC, then 14 years in GA, the to this County ( Caldwell, KY.) ever since.
He was the son of William Dunn. He passed away in 1842.
