  • Source: S491 Abbreviation: Butler, Carolyn: Email, 2003/08/14 Title: Carolyn Sue Butler, "Richardson Family Tree," e-mail message from <rubypapaya@cox.net> to Harold Templeton, Thursday, August 14, 2003. Carolyn found my information at Ancestry.com and provides many details and corrections to my data. Text: Subject: Richardson Family Tree CONT Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2003 22:04:46 -0700 CONT From: Carolyn Sue Butler <rubypapaya@cox.net> CONT Reply-To: Carolyn Sue Butler <rubypapaya@cox.net> CONT To: <mrman51@netscape.net> CONT CONT Harold Templeton, CONT CONT I hit the jackpot today when I found your entries on Ancestry.com website. I hope you are still at this email address. I'd like to update the descendants of Irene Juliet Richardson, my grandmother. Maybe you can let me know what to do. I'm new at this. (And why was she called Aunt Renee?). CONT CONT Her five children are William (Bill) Butler, Theodore Edward Butler (living), Robert George Butler, Sr., Elaine Smith (living), and another daughter whose name I'll have to get from Uncle Ted. Ted and Elaine are living in Iowa and I live in San Diego. CONT CONT I am the daughter of Robert George Butler (b. June 1, 1924, d. July 30, 2000) who married Carolyn Dunning (my mother, d. 1997) and I have one son, Dunning Butler. My dad lived in Seal Beach, CA before he passed away. CONT CONT Irene's mother, Carolina Georgine, is buried here in San Diego at Evergreen Cemetary. Her brother, Edward, is buried in the Rosecrans National Cemetary in San Diego. CONT CONT Irene's second marriage was to Harold Hogue in San Diego. They moved to Meadow Vista in northern California until "Old Man Hogue" died and then she returned to nursing at Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego where she met her third husband, Mr. Britt. CONT CONT Irene's third marriage was to Jonathan Franklin Britt on October 22, 196 in San Diego, CA. (I have the marriage certificate which I will be glad to share.) They then moved to Colorado and she returned to Auburn CA after he died. I know it says on Irene's death certificate that her last residence was in Colorado, but she lived for at least ten years in Auburn, CA, before she died. She is buried at Auburn Cemetary in northern California. CONT CONT Irene's niece, Irene Feeney, is still alive and living in Oregon. I have her address somewhere. And another niece, daughter of Beatrice, I believe, is living in Lodi, California. CONT CONT Do you have a website of your own? I have some pictures I'd like to post. Also, how do I view the pictures you have posted on Ancestry.com. I didn't see a link. CONT CONT Are there ever big family reunions? We'd love to go to one of those. CONT CONT Thanks so much for posting the information on Ancestry.com. I'm not a member, but I access it online through the local public library. CONT CONT Carolyn Sue Butler

Follow up to the scans of Irene's obituary. She includes the birth and death dates of her mother. Text: Subject: Irene Britt Eulogy CONT Date: Fri, 15 Aug 2003 22:43:43 -0700 CONT From: Carolyn Sue Butler <rubypapaya@cox.net> CONT Reply-To: Carolyn Sue Butler <rubypapaya@cox.net> CONT To: Harold Templeton <mrman23@earthlink.net>, Herb Shields <hshields@citlink.net>, <wlossaso@cptelco.net> CONT CONT Hi Harold, CONT CONT Thanks for the attachment of the marriage certificate. I was able to download and print it out just fine. CONT CONT I wanted to reply to you and others because I'm pretty excited about some pictures I've found. I started digging around for that xerox copy of the Georgine and Frank picture and I found a lot of other stuff that is kind of exciting (but not that particular picture yet). When Grandma Irene died, my dad Robert George put some of her papers (a very small amount) into two large rented storage lockers with his things (a very large amount) and probably never looked at them again. When my dad died, I cleaned out the storage lockers and saved Grandma's things and didn't look at them again until tonight. CONT CONT What I'm excited about is an old handwritten note with information that you all already have in re: birth death of Frank and dates. But also, I have some pictures of Herb when he was small (but which Herb?) and one of Irene at 4 years old, "Aunt Dora" and others.. I scanned these and others into bmp and gif files. My question is, should I send them to you in bmp or gif format? Or should I convert them to jpeg? Maybe I'll just go to the website and upload them there if doesn't take too much skill. CONT CONT The other thing is that I found a copy of grandma's eulogy that my dad, Ted, and Elaine cobbled together with Irene's history for her funeral. I have scanned that and attach it in four parts in MS Word format, and also I included this email to Herb and wlosasso for their information. It contains a lot of Irene's history as her children would write it. I think the information in this eulogy will answer most of your questions, except for my mother's full birth and death dates which are: CONT CONT Carolyn Frances Dunning, b January 24, 1924 Topeka, KS, d. May 7, 1997 in Riverside, Riverside County, CA. CONT CONT I'm on a mission now. Maybe I'll try uploading one of those scanned photos in another email. CONT CONT Thank you for the invitation to the reunion. I won't be able to make it this time, but I'll give Uncle Ted the information. My son and I would love to attend the historical whirlwind reunion whenever it occurs. CONT CONT That's all for now. CONT Carolyn
