Biography

Fabien Dupuy was born about 1717. He was the son of Jean DuPuis and Marguerite Richard. [1]

When he was 22, Fabien married Judique Hebert, age 19, daughter of Rene Hebert and Marie Boudrot 6 July 1739 at Saint Charles des Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadia. [2]

On 5 September 1755, Fabien was imprisoned along with hundreds of other Acadian men at the St. Charles des Mines church in Grand-Pré. On a list of prisoners, he was said to live in the village des Dupuis with 6 sons and 3 daughters (spouses were not included on the list), and owned 4 bullocks, 5 cows, 7 young cattle, 20 sheep, 10 hogs, and 1 horse. His property and livestock became forfeit to the crown, and his family was required to prepare for deportation within 30 days. [3][1]

In 1755 Fabien, his wife, and 9 children were deported to Connecticut aboard the Dove. [1]

He died between 1758 and 1763. His youngest son was born in the New England colonies around 1758. In 1763, his widow appeared on a census in Connecticut with 7 children. Judith and at least 6 of their children died at Le Mirabalais, Saint-Dominque (now Haiti). [1]
