Dupuis-571 and Dupuy-333 appear to represent the same person because: According to Nelson Gremillion:
"The members of this Dupuis family were also called "Dupuy". Both forms of the surname are found in early records. By 1850-1860 it appears that "Dupuy" came to be used more then "Dupuis".
What is the first source record available for him. Seems there is a specific marriage date. Suggested saving the merge to the profile to the name on the marriage if available. If Dupuis, then merge into the Dupuis profile and use Dupuy as the current last name.
No issue with doing it. Just a lot of time involved.
Cheers, Jim
Theodore also used " Dupuis" So it would be better to merge Dupuy into Dupuis until later when Dupuy came into general use.
