Biography

Louis Dupuis died young.

Louis Dupuis, child of Jean and Anne Madeleine Richard was born in 1700 in Port Royal, Acadia. In the census of 1701, at Port Royal, Acadia, he was age 7 years but this is an error as he would not have been born so far before their marriage and when Anne Madeleine was age 12. [1]. There was no boy in 1703. The transcription is in error compared to the original transcript.[2]

However, there was only one boy present in 1707 and that would have been Jean Baptiste born in 1706.[3]

Would someone look at the census for 1701 for his age? White gives him born in 1700, but the census says he was age 7 in 1701.

It is written age 7 in the transcription and also in the original record p. 4, 3rd line. However Stephen White adds [sic] after age 7 in DGFA p. 601 likely because the parents were married in November 1699. A boy born in 1694 means his mother would have given birth at age 12. He probably died before the census of 1703 in which there were only 2 girls.

HI, Gisele, now can you look at the original transcript for 1703? I think there is 1 boy listed, though I see White says only two girls in the DGFA. The numeral 1 is a bit higher than the other entries in line of the same line, but I would have thought it says 1. There clearly are only 3 boys by 1714. Thank you.

White does not have a boy in 1703 and in the earlier transcription, there is no boy while they are clearly 2 girls.
