Biography

William S. Durbin, the son of Hosier Durbin and Elizabeth Nunn was born in 1806 in Kentucky, United States. He passed away in 1891 (aged 84–85) in Indiana and was interred at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, United States. [1]

William, a successful tanner married Eliza A Sparks on 31 Oct 1828 William S Durbin in Dearborn, Indiana, United States. [2]

In 1840 William was living in Dearborn, Indiana, United States. [3]

In 1860 William S Durbin, age 54 and his wife Eliza, 56 were living in Franklin Township, Washington, Indiana, United States. Others in their household included their children:

Their youngest son, Winfield Taylor Durbin (May 4, 1847 – December 18, 1928) was an American politician serving as the 25th governor of the U.S. state of Indiana from 1901 to 1905.

William's eldest brother, John Price Durbin was was an American Methodist clergyman and educator who served as Chaplain of the United States Senate from 1831 to 1832 and president of Dickinson College from 1833 to 1844. [5]

Eliza passed away on 30 Oct 1862 and was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States of America.

In 1870 William was living in Franklin Township, Washington, Indiana, United States. Other persons in his household included his son William N. Durbin, age 31 and others. [6]
