Biography

Benjamin was born in Lyme to Joseph and Mary Dutton, on 10 Oct 1696;[1]

His wife's name was Mary, said in some genealogies to be the daughter of Daniel and Mary Gates Cone, of East Haddam. Benjamin and Mary had eleven children, probably all born in Wallingford, Connecticut. They were living in Cheshire, Connecticut by 1785, when Mary died.

From Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania:

Benjamin, born in 1696, at Lynn (says Lyme on findagrave);

Research Note: The Mary Cone who was born in East Haddam on 6 Jan 1701 was recorded as the daughter of Daniel, who lived in that town. And that Mary Cone-628 seems more likely to been the one (there are several) who married Matthias Fuller in 1722. (Barbour collection, East Haddam, p. 207) So, it seems likely that the Mary ____ who is said to have married Benjamin Dutton in Wallingford (which by the way does not appear in the Wallingford records) was not the daughter of Daniel or his cousin Caleb of Haddam. And was she even a Cone??.
