See 1870 census entry for a Lucretia Barnes, wife of John Barnes in Crawford, Georgia. The "Barnes" children include John, Nimrod and Martha, followed by a 9 year gap before James.[3]
This is supported by an 1869 marriage record between John Barnes and Lucretia Renfro.[1]
While Lucretia Renfro is connected here as the daughter of Lucretia Dye, she is Martha L. Renfro on the death record of a daughter... (See her profile.) Is it possible that this 1870 census enumerated Lucretia's Renfro children as "Barnes"?
