Note: In 1757, John Dyer served four weeks, from Feb. 21 to March 21, in Captain George Berry's company, "scouting Eastward." April 29, following, he joined the Train Band and Alarm List, in the Second Parish, under command of Captain Loring Cushing. In 1758, he enlisted in Captain John Libby's company, Colonel Jedidiah Preble's regiment, "for the reduction of Canada." As he was still under age, his father, John Dyer, signed for him
John and Mary (Weeks) Dyer had several children, including a son, John, Jr., who had a wife Molly; their six children were recorded in Gorham.
 !LAND-PARENTS-CHILDREN: Hugh D. McLellan, "History of Gorham Maine", (Smith & Sale Printers, 1903), 473-476; NOTE: This book says John is son of John and Mary (Strout) Dyer of Cape Elizabeth. He came from that town to Gorham in July 1765. He settled and cleared land in the south part of town. He received land from his father. In 1903 this land was still in posession of his descendants.
He married Dorcas ________. Probably died about 1812.
