LIMINGTON MAINE CHURCH RECORDS (N.E. REGISTER 99:196-197)
article contributed by Walter Goodwin Davis of Portland Maine.
Francis Small, Isaac Robinson, Amos Chase, Jonathan Boothby, Daniel Dyer, and Asa Edmunds, inhabitants of the plantation which was incorporated on February 8, 1792, as the town of Limington, York
County Massachusetts (now Maine), met on October 11, 1789, and subscribed to the covenant of a Congregational church. The new church was without a settled minister until May 16, 1794, when Rev. Jonathan Atkinson accepted a call which had been given him on October 14, 1793. The first book of records of the church is a small leather bound quarto now in the possession of the Maine Historical Society. From it the following baptism and death records have been abstracted: The church records are listed following the above in the New England Historic Register. July 1945, Volume 99, Pages 196 through 203. Copy on File.
