Biography

Matthilda was born in 1911,^[1] the daughter of John Dzaman and Mary Hryhorczuk. Their family lived in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba.^[2]

Research Notes

This woman was definitely called Mattilda but was known by the family as "Jean" . As both of the first two children were born and given the same name of "Nelly" not sure about this, so maybe it was a language matter when they were registered.

Jean was m to a Bill Williams who changed his name from ????? (Unknown) to Williams . He was a Liquor Inspector for Manitoba Liquor Commission & she was a nurse. She died in approximately 1990 but unsure of date. Do know she died in Toronto whilst visiting Aunt Nat & was brought home for burial. She is buried in the Neepawa Cemetery. Can't recall her husband's original name, but he was known as Bill Williams but not born under that name. They had one son called:? can't think of his name but will get it. He was married but think they separated or were divorced.

In the 1916 census, Genie's age was recorded as 1 (birth estimage 1915).
