Biography

Justus Eames immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Justus Eames was baptised on April 29, 1627 in Fordington, Dorset at the St Georges Church, the son of Anthony Eames and his wife Margery.[1][2][3]

Justus emigrated to New England with his family in 1633. His father, Anthony Eames, is listed on the ship Recovery which sailed from Weymouth on 31 March 1633 for New England. The passengers were recorded as ‘Planters carrying with them household goods, clothing and provisions for themselves, their wives, children and servants, valued at £920 and allowed to pass free of customs by His Majesty's patent." The family probably arrived in July 1633, where they settled initially in Charlestown in what is now Massachusetts. They moved to Hingham, Massachusetts in 1636, and finally, to Marshfield in 1650.[1]

He married Mehitable Chillingworth on 2 May 1661 in Marshfield, Plymouth Colony Massachusetst. Their children were born in Marshfield.[1][2][4][5]

His father Anthony Eames acknowledged a deed of land to his son Justus Eames on Jun. 28, 1670.[1]

On 4 June 1661, Anthony Eames acknowledged to the court that his son Justice had received L13 6s 8d of his wife's portion from Thomas Doged of Marshfield.[2]

On 14 May 1670, his father Anthony Sr. of Marshfield deeded Justus the house and land he had purchased from Francis Godfrey.[2]
