Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a third-generation stock-car racer. His father was Dale Earnhardt Sr. the legendary NASCAR champion who was killed in 2001 during the last leg of a race.

His grandfather, Ralph Earnhardt, was the 1956 NASCAR Sportsman champion. His brothers, sisters and even nephew are drivers. It seems everyone in his family has some connection to professional racecar driving.

He began his racing career at the late age of 17, competing in the Street Stock division at Concord (N.C.) Motorsport Park.

Earnhardt, Jr. has won consecutive NASCAR Busch Series Championships in 1998 and 1999, 5 Winston Cup races in the #8 Budweiser car. The 2008 season marks Dale Jr.'s ninth in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition.

Over his racing career, Dale Jr. has amassed more than $46 million in career winnings and 17 victories, including the 2004 Daytona 500. His 17 victories rank him 39th on NASCAR's all-time race winners list.

His good looks, and down to earth personality have made him a fan favorite, evidenced by his distinguished five-time recipient of Nascar Most Popular Driver award. He has tons of endorsements, and off the track makes TV and modeling appearances. If his father was a legend on the track, Dale Jr. is a legend everywhere. He is the best-selling author of "Driver 8," the story of his rookie season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Dale is involved in numerous business endeavors, from car collections, pop culture appearances, apparel endorsements and even has his own candy bar!

Until 2008, Dale Jr.'s career as a full-time driver was solely within the confines of the family-owned business, Dale Earnhardt Inc. In the 2008 season Earnhardt decided to sign with team owner Rick Hendrick to drive the No. 88 Chevrolets for Hendrick Motorsports. This brings about a new chapter in the Earnhardt racing legacy, one that's sure to continue for years to come.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is single, and resides in Mooresville, NC.
