Biography

Elizabeth (Eaton) Davis immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Elizabeth (Eaton) Davis was born in England.

Elizabeth Eaton was baptized on January 31, 1629/30, the daughter of John Eaton and Anne (___). [1] [2] .[3]

She married James Davis Jr. on December 1, 1648 in Haverhill, Massachusetts Bay Colony, New England. [4] Her husband James, son of James Davis and Cicely Thayer was baptized at Thornbury, Gloucester England on July 4, 1619. [1] [5]

In her father John Eaton's will dated August 6, 1668, he left bequests to, among others:

  • daughter Davis 40s
  • to Hester Davis, 1 calf that my son James Davis hath
  • grandson Jno Davis [6] [7]

Elizabeth died on January 31, 1683 [1] [4] [2] nd is interred at the Pentucket Cemetery on Water Street in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA.[8]

After her death James married second Mary ____. [2] [9]

James Davis, husbandman, died on July 18, 1694 at Haverhill. [4] [2]

His will was written on the date of his death. The will was not allowed in August, 1694, noted as 'without seal'. [9]

On November 12, 1694, the surviving children submitted an approval of the will as written agreeing to 'stand to it' as written, excepting 2 items: land given by deed by James Davis deceased, and what was given to Sarah Lichfeild, be as well to her now husband Thomas Lichfield and his heirs. Signed by:

  • James Davis, Robert Hastings on behalf of wife Elizabeth Hastings, James Pecker of behalf of wife Anne Pecker, Thomas Lichfield on behalf of wife Sarah Lichfield, Joseph Barney on behalf of wife Constance, and Elisha Davis

The court allowed the above agreement on May 22, 1695. [9]
