Biography

Sarah was born in 1835 to Levi Eaton and Sarah Bigelow. The family emigrated to New Zealand in 1860. She married Henry Atkins in 1864 and had 9 children. (see below). She died in 1924 in Auckland. She was buried at Waikumete Cemetery, Glen Eden, Auckland, New Zealand May 17, 1924.

Death of Old Colonist: Mrs. Henry Atkins: An Auckland resident for 65 years. Mrs. Henry Atkins, died at her residence, Esplanade Road, Mount Eden, last week, aged 87 years. She was born in Nova Scotia and arrived in Auckland in 1860 in the ship George Henderson, which was owned by her father, Mr. Levi Eaton. Mrs. Atkins, whose husband died 17 years ago, leaves an adult family of three sons and two daughters.
