Biography

John was born in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1753. He married Nancy Cummins in 1781. John passed away in 1832.[1]

John Edge was a Revolutionary War soldier. He enlisted for one year in 1776 and served under Morgan Alexander. He was discharged and six months later he reenlisted for 3 more years.

John served in 10th Virginia Regiment and in 1777 was selected to join "The Commander in Chief's Guard" where he had the honor of being one of General George Washington's personal bodyguards.

He was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth and was discharged in 1781. John and his wife Nancy Cummins were pioneer settlers, having arrived in Belmont County in 1804.
