Biography

Edward Lister Edge is the son of Edward Lister Edge, Jr. and Lillian Meigel. He is born 23 October 1926 in New York.[1]

In 1930, the family lives at 20 Dow St, Central Islip, NY. His father, Edward Edge, age 28 (b. 1902), mother Lillian, age 29 (b. 1901), and Edward, who is three. Edward, the father, is a chauffeur for a coal company. All are born in New York.[2]

The Edge family appears in the 1940 US Census of Islip Town, an unincorporated place in Central Islip, in Suffolk County, New York. According to this census, the family still lives in the same house they lived in on 1 April 1935.

Edward, age 38, is the head of the household and his wife Lillian, who answered the questions for this census, is 39. Their children are Edward, 13 (1926), and Catherine, who is six (c. 1934).

Edward's parents have completed seven years of education, while he has so far completed six. His father is a chauffeur for a lumber yard.[3]

Military Service

22 June 1944, Edward, the younger, is in the New York State National Guard.[4]

On 23 February 1945, Edward, who is still single, enlists for the duration of World War II. He is a Private in the Air Corps of the Army Reserves. [5]

In the 1950 federal census taken 15 April, Edward J. Edge, 48 (b. 1902), heads a household at 20 Suffolk Ave. with his wife, Lillian K., 49 (b. 1901), and children Edward K. Jr., 23 (b. 1927), and Catherine C., 16 (b. 1934), all born in New York. Edward Sr. is a carpenter and Edward Jr. is a laborer, both employed by a general contractor.[6]

Marriage

On 28 May 1950, Edward marries Virginia Fandrey They live in Central Islip, near Edward's parents, and have two children together: Edward Lister III (1951) and Janice (1953).[7]

Edward's residence is given as 44 Storey Ave, Central Islip, NY 11722 on 1 February 2002.[8] This is the address where Edward and Virginia raise their children and live until their deaths. [9]

Death

Edward dies 25 December 1998 in Suffolk County, New York. He is 72.[1]

His widow, Virginia, dies in 2005.
