Biography

Anna Grace Edge (married name Ellis) was born on 29 February 1880 at Gaffneys Creek, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Eleanor (Ishmael) Edge and John Edge.^[1]

She was a school teacher at Tallandoon, where she met Tom Ellis. Anna and Tom married on 11 July 1912 in Waggarandall, Victoria.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• Eleanor Audrey Ellis (1913?–1982)
• Linley Morris Ellis (1914?–2012)
• Wanda Jean Ellis (1917–2008)
• Valda Lorraine Ellis (1919–2002)
• Heather Lois Ellis (1922–2006?)

After marriage, Anna often acted as an emergency midwife. She kept the local store and Post Office; raised five girls; and milked between 30 and 100 cows. Grace and her husband made a great fuss of the many visitors and guests, in true country style. The girls remember there were always visitors and guests, and also people calling in because of the store and post office.

Anna died on 9 November 1976 in Werribee, Victoria, aged 96 years.^[3]
