From Styles, p. 94:
Reuben Edgerton was born before 1802 in Back Creek, Randolph, NC. Hinshaw, Vol I, NC, p. 985; "1812, 9, 5, Reuben Edgerton granted certificate to Stillwater MM, Belmont Co, Ohio."
He was married to Patience Hanson (daughter of Elijah Hanson and Susannah Stubbs) on 16 Sep 1813 in Captene, Belmont, OH. Hinshaw, Vol IV, Ohio, pp. 388, 389, 403, Stillwater MM, "1812, 12, 29, Reuben Edgerton received on certificate from Deer Creek MM; Reuben and wife Patience and family granted certificate to Darby Creek MM; 1813, 9, 16, Reuben Edgerton, son of Joseph and Martha, Belmont County, Ohio, married in Captene, Ohio, Patience Hanson, daughter of Elijah and Susannah, Belmont County, Ohio." The record proceeds to list four of their children, born Stillwater, Belmont County, OH:
i. Avice Edgerton was born on 13 Jun 1814.
ii. Louisa Edgerton (Twin), born on 13 Nov 1816, died on 15 Feb 1817.

Styles gives only parents and birth date/place for Elizabeth and her siblings.

Reuben Edgerton and his wife, Patience Hanson, were born in North Carolina, but she, with her parents, had moved to Belmont County, Ohio, before 1813 when Reuben and Patience were married in the Captina Meeting. North Carolina continued to be their home until about 1819 when, after the birth of their four oldest children, they moved to Ohio and were probably in Belmont County for a short time but soon moved their membership to Darby Creek Meeting in Logan County, Ohio. Here they lived a few years and here their three youngest children were born. At this point I lost the family until by a chance discovery I came across a notice of the death of Reuben Edgerton which had occurred 2-1-1862 at New London, Howard County, Indiana. Investigation of the records of Howard County revealed the fact that he had owned a large tract of land in that County, some of which had been platted by him as a part of the town of New London. Following this lead we have located records of the marriages of his children in Duck Creek Meeting in Henry County, Indiana.
On file in the Howard County Court House was found a copy of the will of Reuben Edgerton which was signed and witnessed 4-3-1858, about four years before his death. With it was an inventory of his personal property which was taken by his widow, Mary Edgerton. The will, besides providing for his widow, mentions his daughter, Elizabeth Johnson, his son-in-law, Isaac W. Johnson and the following grandchildren: Ruth J. Marshall, Reuben E. Johnson, Joseph M. Johnson, Reuben James Tomlinson, Patience Ann Tomlinson, Jabez Binford and Jane Bright (formerly Binford). His daughter Elizabeth was evidently the only one of his children to survive him. No further record of his descendants has been found. Reuben Edgerton and his wife, Mary, were buried in the Friends' burying ground in New London, Indiana.

Birthplace

In the notes above, it can be seen that Styles states that Elizabeth was born in Ohio, while Binns says North Carolina. I have used what is given in the newer book, and marked it as uncertain.
