Biography

John (Edmonstone) de Edmonstone of that Ilk is a member of Edmonstone Clan.

John was the son of Sir John Edmonstone, Baron Boyne.[1]

He married Lady Isabel Euphame Stewart aka de Brus (1348 - 26 Oct 1410) , daughter of Sir Robert II Stewart, King of Scotland, Earl of Atholl, Strathearn, 7th Steward of Scotland and Elizabeth Muir, between 5 August 1388 and 1390. They had issue:

  1. Sir David Edmonstone (1391-1426).

John died 1415 at Edmonstone, Newton, Midlothian, Scotland.

Why is Culloden placed in the dsignation here? Surely this was Sir John Edmonstone of that Ilk. Why Culloden for his place of birth was not Midlothian more likely?

Genealogical Account of the The Family Of Edmonstone Of Duntreath by: Sir Archibald Of Duntreath Baronet. April 1851 archive.org Page: 25, Second Paragraph= "By this marriage Sir John had one son, David. The family pedigree makes out William, from whom the Duntreath family are descended, to have been a second son, but this will be shown to be erroneous.

Sir John only had one Son =Sir David.
