Biography

I am Jim Baucom, a researcher, not a copier, a descendant of Little Berry and his wife Nelly Felton via his son William A. b 1829 SC. Littleberry was the youngest son of Andrew Edwards and Phoebe Meador who were married in VA and came to Laurens Co SC after 1800 and before 1805 the year Littleberry was born, Often there is conflicting information on a person because anyone can post anything without proof on some websites. Littleberry was married to Nelly Howard, Sarah Mary Yates. Sarah Mary Parker and Nelly Felton posted at various websites. I have a copy of the history of Friendship Baptist Church, at Cumming GA that names the people and date of the members that joined the Church from 1840-1990 on pages 233-308, Nelly stated that her maiden name was Felton, not Howard. I have seen the death certificates of of Littleberry's brothers, John in GA and Millwee in TX that state their mother was a Howard, When John died 1926 at Atlanta, 78 year old Littleberry Jr said their mother was Nelly Howard b VA, When Nelly's son Millwee died 1936 in TX his daughter Eva repeated Nelly Howard as his mother and that his parents born in Spartanburg SC. Littleberry and Nelly Howard, who married some unidentified kin of Littleberry both born Laurens Co SC

The only Feltons and Millwees in 1820 SC census were in Pendleton Co SC. James Millwee surveyed two plats of land for Harrell Felton in 1792 at Pendleton Co SC. Littleberry never heard the name Millwee until he married Nelly Felton at Pendleton SC about 1827. This usually signifies that Nelly Felton's mother was a Millwee.

Littleberry and Nelly m about 1827 had two children b before the 1830 census but the family was not included anywhere. Their last child born SC 1836 and they were only Edwards in Forsyth Co GA 1840 census and Church records.

When 16 year old Susan Edwards married Owen Owens 5 MAR 1839 some posted that she was the daughter of Littleberry Edwards and Sarah Mary Parker or Sarah Mary Yates. He would have married Sarah Mary 1822 when he was 17. It is obvious that Susan Edwards came with Littleberry and Nelly from SC to GA but she was his cousin or niece.

When she died in 1851 she was buried in the family plot on Littleberry's farm. The Friendship Church Cemetery sexton told me that when the fam was sold all were reburied there.
