Biography

Perry Coleman Edwards was born on June 6, 1871 in Casey County, Kentucky. He is the son of ___________ and Martha Frances (Lanham) Edwards. [1] [2]

The 1880 Federal Census listed Perry as living with his mother Martha, his half-sisters Mary Katherine, Sarah F. and Eliza Ellen, his half-brothers Samuel Walker and his brother John D. in Casey County, Kentucky. [3]

Perry Coleman Edwards married first Lena Print Sharp on February 8, 1894 at the home of his father-in-law John H. Sharp in Liberty, Casey, Kentucky. [4]

The 1900 Federal Census listed Perry as living with his wife Lena, his daughter Flossie Myrtle and his son Oatley Murle in Casey County, Kentucky. His occupation was listed as a farmer. [5]

The 1910 Federal Census listed Perry as living with his wife Lena, his daughters Flossie Myrtle and Montie Lee and his sons Oatley Murle and Walter in Justice Precinct 8, Fannin, Texas. His occupation was listed as a farmer. [6]

On June 5, 1918, Perry's son Oatley registered for the World War I Draft in Fannin County, Texas. He listed his nearest relative as Mrs. P.C. Edwards in RFD #2, Windom, Fannin, Texas. [7]

Before the 1920 Federal Census, Perry abandoned or divorced his wife Lena and left the family on a farm near Windom, Fannin, Texas.

The 1920 Federal Census listed Lena as a widow and living with her daughters Flossie Myrtle and Montie Lee and her sons Oatley Murle, Walter and Ovenin Craven near Windom, Fannin, Texas. Her occupation was listed as a farmer. [8] (Note: Perry's whereabouts were unknown.)

Perry Coleman Edwards married second Nevada E. Franklin circa 1923 in Texas.

The 1930 Federal Census listed Nevada as living with her daughter Nettie Esta Lee Edwards, her sons Herman Henry Adams, Ernest James Adams and Coy Houston Adams, her daughter Hettie Agnes Adams off of the Windom and Monkstown Road in Justice Precinct 8, Fannin, Texas. Perry passed away on August 3, 1937 in Dodd, Fannin, Texas at age 66. His usual residence was in Dodd, Fannin, Texas. [10] He was buried on August 3, 1937 in Cravens Cemetery in Honey Grove, Fannin, Texas. [11] [12]
