James Edwards was born about 1790. He's first found in tax records in 1812 along with William Edwards, Ambrose Edwards, Brice Edwards, Henry Edwards, Chiles Edwards and John Edwards in Henry County, Virginia.[1] Only if James was born in Henry County, it's possible that James Edwards, d. abt. 1798, is the father of our James. This James can be found in Henry County tax listing during the time of birth of our James. James (death about 1798) is listed as the "son of James" in 1792 tax listing. This earlier James was born abt.1721 (Levy free 1786) d. abt. 1792.[2]
