There are internet claims, without evidence, that Frances was the daughter of Rev. Richard Edwardes and Margaret Babb. This would give Frances a medieval royal lineage that is not recognized by professional genealogists.
Frances Edwards married Henry Atkins at Sandy, Bedfordshire, England on 25 Oct 1583.[1]
She appears to have had at least 6 children. For further details see her husband's profile.
She was buried at Sandy on Christmas Day 1610.[2]
There seems to have been no Edwards family in Sandy at this time, but there was an Edwards family at Southoe, Huntingdonshire (now Cambridgeshire), 9 miles north of Sandy on the Great North Road, at the other side of St Neots. A Frances, daughter of William Edwardes, was baptized there on 15 Apr 1561.[3]
A William Edwardes was buried at Southoe on 13 Mar 1567/8. A widow Agnes Edwardes was buried there on 8 Oct 1572.
An Ancestry tree shows Francis Edwards (male) born 1535 Sandy dying in Bristol in Dec 1610 citing FindAGrave. A bit of a coincidence that Frances Atkyns née Edwards (female) who lived in Sandy should have been buried in Dec 1610 in Sandy.
