William was born in 1711. DOB also given as 16 Feb 1713 or 1717. Son of John Edwards (1685-1756) and Mary Howell (1680-1770).
William Edwards, Sr., married Martha Foulke (1716-1781) on 26 VII [Sep] 1737 in Gwynedd, Montgomery Co, PA. They had seven children: Mary (1739-1755); Thomas (1743-1745); Ann (1743-1795); Martha (1747-?); William, Jr. (1748-1818); Hugh (1754-1766); Sarah (1761-1798).
NB: Most sources put the marriage of William Edwards. Sr., and Martha Foulke in 1738 in Richland, Bucks Co, PA, but the minutes of the Gwynedd, Montgomery Co, PA, Monthly Meeting are clear that the marriage took place in 1737 in Gwynedd.
