Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone
Died at his residence in Pittsylvania on Friday the 23 d ult (meaning last month) of a short but severe ilness which he bore with Christian-like fortitude, Mr. Daniel C. Edwards, Sen. in the 83d year of his age. Mr Edwards was a soldier in the Revolutionary War ,which secured for us our independence. He was a gentleman of uncommon strong mind, agreeable manners, and a lively wit-he was a kind and charitable neighbor,an affectionate husband,a kind and indulgent parent and humane master. He was unusally esteemed for his virtuous and upright conduct through life. The warmth of his social affectations and endearing deportment won for him the livelist regards of all who were so happy to know him. His life was characterized by the open hearted charities that graced his prosperity and the manly resigination and fortitude that adorned and dignified his adversity; his virtues survive him. Let the excrucitating pain he endured reconsile his family and relatives to the dispensation of Providence that has laid the amiable sufferer to rest, and the warmth of the public sympathy in their symathy in their bereavement contribute to their consolation.
