No original source records have been located to confirm birth, marriage or death records. It appears that some erroneous information may have been published, and perhaps republished/reported, making the “actual facts” obscure. There is a great deal of conflicting information surrounding Robert – Source-to-Source discrepancies; co-mingling, Lack of records; conflicting family stories; number of Edward’s with the same names, etc..

No Probate Records Located Unsupported children -- (From Ancestry Trees and IGI only). Lineage Needs To Be Proven. Around 1970, Kathryn M. Wills, the Isle of Wight County Deputy Clerk of the Court, typed a very detailed and fully sourced research book to track the Edwards lineage in Isle of Wight County. She was a family cousin and volunteered to look up our Edwards descendants that trace back to 1619. Here's a few items relating to Robert and Rebecca Edwards (I am the 12th generation in Isle of Wight dating back to them). Robert Edwards was "in Virginia in 1619" was the emigrant ancestor for the our Isle of Wight County Edwards. Robert was in England again in 1634, and was married at that time to Rebecca- they're in George Mynifie's list when the Court at James City County granted him 3,000 acres on My 9th, 1635 (State Land Office). He's again listed in 1643 by Sir Francis Wyatt. (I've got more details on this trip back to England again with Captain Anthony Fulgham).

Robert and Rebecca's two sons- Robert and (apparently James though originally it's mentioned his name was John) who married Anne Wright in 1671 (James died in 1677). This younger brother (James) is my ancestor and was not listed on any purchases or grants because he was so young. This young James (or John) had a son named James (who died in 1723) who also married an Anne, who had a son named James (died in 1743) who married Allinar- they had a son named William who married Susanna Whitley in 1761...this goes on and on to my current family. 12 generations- they're all detailed in this book along with their siblings and a lot of details, deed books, wills, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions, but the details are listed in this original book Kathryn gave my father, Joseph Lee Edwards (son of Albert Curtis Edwards, son of Richard Joel Edwards, son of Richard C. Edwards, son of David and Chloette Edwards, son of James and Susanna Edwards, son of William and Susanna Whitley Edwards, son of James and Allinar.... etc. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Very helpful . Much controversy regarding this group of "Edwards". Do you have an online link for the Kathryn M. Wills research book so the info can be viewed via link? If so, please past on Profile or as reply to this comment. Much thanks. Sandy
