Biography
Euphrates Elder, son of Samuel Elder and Agnes Harriett Henry, was born in January 1833 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. He passed away in October 1904 in Cedar County, Missouri and is buried in Clintonville Cemetery, Cedar County.

They apparently arrived there about 1869 since the census states all their children were born in Illinois, including the youngest, Marion, born 1869. In their household are children William S., Mary E., Emma J. (Clara), John D., James W., Henrietta, Margaret A., and Marion B. Elder.

Elder. (It seems as if someone couldn't make up their mind as to the name of the third daughter; it is variously given as Emma, Clara or Senia. But from the birthdate, it is the same person.)

- Euphrates is living with second wife, George A., and is still farming. The census states they have been married 34 years. Obviously incorrect, it appears that George gave the date she married her first husband, Edward Bishop, about 1866.
