PARENTAGE

David Elder, assumed son of John Elder
A David Elder is listed as an orphan of John Elder deceased, in 1812 court documents.
This implies David (son of John) was a minor under age 21, in year 1812.
The assumption, is because there are several David Elders in the same area of Georgia at the same. Two of the David's were minors in 1812, one David not born yet, and last was age 46 in 1812.
Georgia intestate records, page 97, by Austin:
Richard Cox guardian of orphans of John Elder deceased, namely Jack, Jerry, Joseph, David, Doctor Washington Patrick Henry Elder (sic), gave bond 7 Sep 1812 in Clarke County, surety David Holmes, Sterling Elder
The other David Elder (a cousin) who was also a minor in 1812, is assumed to be son of Joshua, based on his birthplace of Georgia.
Their fathers (John and Joshua), both moved from VA to GA, but at different times:
Joshua Elder (b.1761) moved from VA to GA about 1790-1791 (per tax rolls).
John Elder (b.1769) moved from VA to GA sometime between 1807-1812 (per tax rolls).
Therefore:
David Elder, born 1797 in Georgia, is assumed to be son of Joshua.
David Elder, born 1802 in Virginia, is assumed to be son of John.

The OTHER David Elder's

These are the 3 other David Elders who lived in the same area of Georgia.
"Our" David is NOT to be confused with any of these other David's.
1) David (son of Edmond), b.1813 GA, m.1840 to Minerva Clark, lived 1850-1880 in Clarke Co, GA
2) David (son of Joshua), b.1797 GA, m.1820 to Isabella Mitchell, lived 1830-1840 in AL, 1850 in MS
3) David (son of Joseph), b.1766 VA, m.1785, moved from VA to GA sometime between 1809-1815.

MARRIAGE

1st Marriage:
Ancesrty.com. Georgia, Marriage Records From Select Counties, 1828-1978
Name: David Elder
Spouse: Elizabeth Orsburn
Marriage Date: 21 Dec 1825
Marriage Place: Clarke, Georgia, USA
Note: two marriage records... one says 21 Dec 1824, other says 21 Dec 1825
Note:
This 1st marriage is assumed, as this couple cannot be located after marriage date. Assume she is David's 1st wife, who died shortly after marriage, then David remarried.
The timing of this marriage would indicate, she was probably 1st wife of "our" David, because this marriage date is inconsistent with the timelines of the "other" David Elders.
