Thomas was born in 04 Jan 1748. He is the son of Willam Elder Jr. and Jacoba Livers.[1] According to Webb (1880), Thomas moved to Kentucky around 1799.[2]
In 1771, Thomas married Elizabeth Spalding, sister of Basil Spalding, esq. of Charles co. and “the daughter of Basil and Catherine Greene Spalding. They lived in Harbaugh Valley and later moved to Nelson County, Kentucky. [3]
Thomas was mentioned in his father’s Will proved in 1776 “My will is that if my said wife should marry then all my personal estate to be sold and the m oney to be equally divided among my beloved children namely ARNOLD, THOMAS, IGNATIUS, FRANCIS , ALOYSIUS ELDER, EUZABETH BRAWNER and ANN SPALDING their heirs and assigners forever.”
Thomas was mentioned in his Mother’s will of 1807 “:Whereas the sum of seventy pounds was due me by John Coskery of Taneytown and secured to me by mortgage on a house and lot in the said Taneytown and for which I give a deed in trust to my son FRANCIS ELDER and upon which I received already twenty dollars, I leave to my sons THOMAS and FRANCIS and my daughter ELIZABETH BRAWNER twenty pounds each to be paid to them out o f the said sum of sixty two pounds ten shillings balance due me on said mortgage.”
Thomas passed away in 1832[4].
