Biography

Parents: Jeremiah H. Elliott 1836–1904 • K4P5-BMC Rachael Reed 1837–1926 • K8BS-8M1, Marriage: 25 SEP 1864

Edward (Ned) Arthur Elliott was ordained to the Methodist Ministry in the same year he was married. They lived in Michigan where he held 4 pastorates. In 1910 they moved to Springfield, Mass., where he was pastor of the Trinity Church until 1917, then he was pastor at Cambridge and Boston, until he was made Superintendent of the Boston District, New England Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

He visited Iowa in 1928, found no Elliott's at Grundy Center where his grandparents had lived, but visited their graves and went to the house where they had lived. He found the house unchanged and the corn crib which his brother Ben had built for them when he was there in 1894.

He visited his grandfather's only living brother, Uncle Sandy, who was 80 years old and very glad to see him. He found many of the Elliott's living in Waterloo, Iowa, about 35 miles from Grundy Center, the children and grandchildren of his uncles. As he wrote in a letter to his sister, Vick, he had the time of his life. He loved children and had a wonderful sense of humor. His nieces and nephews loved to have him come to visit and were greatly entertained by his wit.

He died April 30, 1942 his wife predeceased him in 1922. They had one adopted daughter, Laura Bannister whose mother, Alice's sister-in-law had died.
