Biography

Charlotte (Elliot) Goodhand has Irish ancestors.

Charlotte was born about 1862 in Wollaston, Hastings County, Canada West. She is the daughter of John Philip Elliot and Emma. In the 1871 census Charlotte (age 9) was in Wollaston, Hastings, Ontario, Canada. Their faith was Wesleyan Methodist and they were Irish.^[1]

Charlotte married Alonzo Watson Lonnie Goodhand^[2] and had 5 children in total. Charlotte's first child, daughter Emma Goodhand, was born on 15 February 1887 in Hilton, Algoma, Ontario, Canada.^[3] In the 1891 census Charlotte (age 29) was in Tenby Bay, Algoma, Ontario, Canada.^[4] In the 1901 census Charlotte (age 39) was the wife of Alonzo Goodhand in Algoma, Ontario, Canada.^[5]

Sadly, Charlotte's daughter was stillborn on 26 January 1904 in Ontario, Canada.^[6] In the 1911 census Charlotte was the wife of Alonzo Goodhand in Strathcona Sub-Districts 33-52, Alberta, Canada.^[7] In the 1916 census Charlotte (age 54) was the wife of Alonzo Goodhand in Strathcona, Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada.^[8] Her husband Alonzo passed away in 1919 in Wenham Valley, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada.

In the 1926 census Charlotte (age 64) was the widowed head of household in Wetaskiwin County No. 10, Alberta, Canada.^[9]

She passed away (aged 75–76) in 1938 in Alberta, Canada.^[10] Charlotte was mentioned on a memorial in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Winfield, Edmonton Census Division, Alberta, Canada with a death date of 1938.^[11]
