Thomas Elliott was born about 1632 in Kirk Daughton, Yorkshire, England to parents Anthony Elliott and Frances Thompson. He was the second son and therefore born in England, but immigrated to the Colonies as a young man.
Thomas was a tobacco planter on Moses Run Creek and he shipped tobacco to England. (Citation needed)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Elliott-121 and Elliot-811 are not ready to be merged because: I too have was suggested these as a match after recently adopting it from my family's line. However the birth date is off by 2 decades, the death dates are not nearly the same and the locations are different. One profile provides parentage and three children while the other doesn't have parents connected but has 1 child that isn't listed on the profile with the other children. I am not comfortable proceeding to change that much undocumented data without more time. I wrote several p.m.'s about the wife Mary Herndon and Thos.when I adopted because it didn't make sense to me and looks as if a generation was skipped. Please allow me to do further research unless the other profile manager says he or she wants the more obscure dates used from the profile I adopted- Thank for understanding. Becky Elizabeth
Actually if you check out the profile of daughter Sarah and read the comments you will see the ongoing discussion and were the errors have most likely occurred. I think what has to be done is to detach her from this profile and adjust the other or create a new profile and then it can be dealt with by whomever has concerns for their lineage - because at least members have tried getting responses from her profile for over 4 months. Perhaps the p.m. here can see the notes/ comments on her page and want to work together
Elliott-121 and Elliot-811 appear to represent the same person because: Both Elliot-811 and Elliott-121 are attached to the same spouse, Mary (Sanders) Elliot (abt.1640-aft.1718). There are differences between the two Thomas profiles. One references a published source, the other contains only references to FamilySearch FamilyTree.
Thanks for the pending merge- I adopted the other profile of my 10th great grandfather a few weeks ago because if was orphaned but more importantly there are a lot of issues with the children, especially Sarah as she has several profiles and the incorrect last name thusly connecting her to incorrect parents and so on. I took it to G2G after no one on those (not this) profiles responded and I was told to wait a bit as a project team may take some over due to the overlapping of facts between two similar families. I have tried to edit carefully and with sources where possible but again the corresponding Thos. Elliot profile only "sourced" with FamilySearch is because I took it over and am starting from "scratch" notes if that makes sense. If these two are the same then perhaps it will be easier to clear up information on the other profiles! Thanks Again! Becky Elizabeth (Simmons-11603)
