Anthony Elliott arrived in Virginia about 1635 and settled in Elizabeth City County. On 25 May 1637, Anthony bought 125 acres from George Unwin. On 29 Oct 1639 he bought additional acreage from Robert Holt. In 1645, he received 300 acres on Point Comfort Creek from Dr. George Calvert. In 1654-55, Anthony Elliott contracted to supply beef and pork for the troops during an Indian Campaign.[4]

A patent for 300 acres originally issued to John Calvert located on a small brook out of Comfort Creek was renewed in the name of Anthony Elliott on 24 July 1645.[6]

Anthony Elliot served on the Virginia Council in 1657 and represented Elizabeth City County in the House of Burgesses in 1647-48 and 1657-58.[7] [8] He later removed to Lancaster County (now Middlesex) and was Justice of the Peace in 1660.[2]

Death and Legacy

Anthony died between 12 August 1666 (will) and 9 January 1666/7 (administration, widow was remarried), probably at Lancaster County, Virginia.[3]

Anthony's will named his sons: William, Thomas (second), and Robert (third). Executors were his unnamed wife, "brother John Armistead," and son, William.[5]

On 9 Jan 1666/7, in Lancaster County Court, "William Ellyott (deced.) and John Armested relinquished their right of executorship of the will of Lt. Coll. Anth: Elyott (deced.) ... was granted to Mr Xpofer Wormeley and [blank] his wife, the late widow and relict of said Anthony."[5]

Elliot-813 and Elliott-403 appear to represent the same person because: The Birthdate on 403 is about 20 years off but he's married to Anthony's second wife and the kids are the same.
