George Washington Elliott was born in Dec 1849 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of John Callison Elliott and Sarah Claton. George was the seventh of nine children. His father remarried after his mother's death in 1860 (when George was 11), and had at least three more children with his second wife, Martha Stephenson.
George married Elizabeth Counts in Shelby County, Ohio on 25 Jan 1872. Elizabeth was the daughter of Nelson Counts and Jane Morris, and also came from a large family--she had eight siblings. George and Elizabeth had three children: Laura Bell, Oliver Olonzo, and Charles Albert.
George and Elizabeth lived their entire lives in Shelby County, Ohio, George was raised on a farm and worked on his father's in the 1870 census. In 1880, George ran a saloon. In 1900, his job description was "day laborer". In 1910 and 1920, he worked or owned a lumber company and worked in building supplies.
Elizabeth died 19 Apr 1921, and George on 28 Mar 1925. They are buried in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, Shelby County, Ohio.
