John, known as Jack was the child of Thomas Elliott and Jane Innes. He was the Chief Architect of the Metropolitan Police. The Twentieth Century Society publishes a guide to his buildings called Innes Elliott of the Met. “Some of his buildings, like the Brixton Police Station, while mostly still unfashionable, are recognised as significant or important. Sadly, many have been demolished or disfigured.” His largest building and the one for which he is best known is the Hendon Police College.
