1860 US Census James 33 (b. Ohio), Sarah 26 (b. PA), John A. (b. Ohio) 4, Lilly J. 0. Living in Township 5 S Range 5W near Dickeys and Burns. Farmer.

1870 US Census- living in Sparta, IL-aged 43 and 5 children James 43 b. Ohio, farmer; Sarah J. 36, b. VA, John A. 14 b. Ohio, Lilly J. 10 b. IL, Laura B. 7 b. IL, Ella S. 5 b. IL, Anna M. 2 b. IL. Moved to Illinois between 1856 and 1860. Living in Sparta Township 5 Range 5 W on same street as Dickeys, Stewarts, Galloways (Irish area)

1880 US Census: James 53, farmer, living in Eden, IL; Sarah J. 44, John A. 24, Laura B. 17, Ella 15, Anna 12, Henrietta 8. This census says both of James' parents are from Ireland and both of Sarah's parents are from Virginia. Lilly might be married as she would be about 20.

1890 U.S. Census of Sarah Elliott: Sparta Precinct, Randolph Co, IL Sarah Elliott, widow, b. Feb 1843 and aged 66, bore 7 children with 6 living in 1900. Owns the house on her farm. Both her mother and father were born in Virginia.

1910 U.S. Census: Sarah Elliott-Sparta Precinct, Randolph Co, IL Sarah is aged 76, widowed and living alone as head of the household. She bore 7 children and 6 are living in 1910. States she and both parents were born in VA (she was born in Ohio). She owns her house free of mortgage. Lives close to William J. Dickey (age 45-maybe nephew?) and James Burns and George W. McFarland.

James Elliott and Mrs. Sarah Elliott were members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Randolph County, IL.
